Dec has been a very important month for the company. Not only it is a psychological indication that we have a whole year of fun and enjoyment in working on our product, it also adds one year to the company’s milestone ! Certainly three cheers to the company. We have worked hard, we have played hard, we have fun and equally important, we have progressed.
This month also happened to be the busiest month in the whole calendar ! I was away for the most part of Dec – a long awaited vacation break for me. However, it seems that the busiest part of company’s activities took place when I was not around ! Nevertheless, I am happy that the team rallied together. Everyone undertook a bigger share of their usual load. On top of product development, some key team members took up the tasks of preparing documentations and proposals for customer’s tender request. It was not an easy task, especially for the team. But things got underway and we eventually made it through. I am grateful to my team members for their excellent work on such short notice. This is our strength and this is our spirit – Can Do ! Well done !
Besides being away and seeing our team performed well under tremendous time pressure, we also went through another interesting experience. We have another business opportunity and a seemingly good opportunity. As a start-up, it is important for us to have opportunities. In fact, we need opportunities. We need to dig hard and flush down each opportunity. As what I have heard from a colleague – start up needs to flip every stone ! This opportunity is certainly very interesting. It gave us a taste of what negotiations are like. But more importantly, it forces us to think strategically where we want to be and how we can realise the potential of our company. I always believe every event, every opportunity is there for a reason. We need to be appreciative and make use of every opportunity to understand ourselves better as well. It is an interesting negotiation. We would see how things evolve.
Lastly, on a personal note, I love Dec. Dec is a time for me to do the 3Rs – Rest, Reflect and Recharge. As part of my reflection, I felt we have ended 2012 in a stronger position than last year. This long journey is like mountaineering. Sometimes we see the mountain top, sometimes we don’t. Weather can be treacherous and unpredictable. This is life and this is business. Winners are those who work with uncertainties and weather through challenges. We have made an ascent climb. It was tough 2012. But we reach a good base camp now. With this small pit stop, I look forward to 2013 where we would make a full assault to the next level. I am confident we would make it an even stronger finish for 2013.
With best regards & a Happy New Year,
