Apollo has landed…..

Mr Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

This month – Oct is really a great month for us and also for me personally. Firstly, I have added another year to my age. I am supposed to be even wiser and more mature. Did I? I laughed. But for sure, I have accumulated more experiences and data points in my life.

This brings me nicely to the topic that I have dwelled on many times. Define Victory. It is important that as leader of a company, we define a clear vision of where the company is heading to. This is defining victory. Read More

Our TreeBox Brand – Credibility, Reliable, Customer-Focus

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

This month, I would like to talk a little bit about this magical word – “Brand”. In a short month, I have met several people who advised me to change the company name. The importance of branding was a major topic of discussion. Some said they don’t understand our company name. Some said the name has no “enterprise” feel. Some don’t like the colour. There are so many comments (or noise?). So what should we do?

Should we quickly engage an expensive so-called Brand Consultant and start a “long journey” with the consultant to develop a brand and a message that is consistent and resonate with customers? Should we quickly think of a new name to re-brand the company?

Define and Pursue Victory

Mr Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

Last month I wrote about “business as war”. I see great similarities between fighting a military campaign and surviving in the ruthless world of business. Competition is intense and it is really a matter of life and death in the business world as well. Losing a military campaign can have a disastrous effect on a war. It could mean a country losing its independence. Similarly for a business, losing to competitors have a huge impact. No business would like to lose. The question in my mind – do all business knows what it means to win? What is winning? What is victory?

Sheer Determination & Self-Belief

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

This month has been a fulfilling month for me, both on work as well as my personal life. I am a person who strongly believes in “pay it forward”. There are many successful people in the world who would contribute back to the society in many significant ways. For me, I am still work-in-progress. Not really achieved the success that many have equated with. But I have made a strong personal commitment that as long as I can contribute, I would do my best to “pay it forward” now, rather than wait. Hence, any invitation for me to speak to others, I would do it wholeheartedly.

Attention to Details – The Richard Branson Way

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

I have spent a considerable amount of my personal time in the past – thinking of a question – how did small companies compete and take on the bigger boys? My research and reading have brought me to several sources.

I looked at how Alibaba managed to grow from a small company to challenge the big boys like eBay. I read how Richard Branson brought Virgin from a single aircraft company to challenge British Airways. There are so many examples out there.

鞋子合不合脚,穿了才知道。

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

I am an avid reader of politics and politicians. The new China’s President – Xi Jinping, naturally became one of my interested reads. In one of his recent visits to Moscow and in his speech to Moscow University, he made the above comments. Of course, he was trying to tell Russians and the world that every country has their own political systems and development path. But this phrase remains in my mind for quite some time and it aptly describes what our team has been doing for this month…. we have been testing our own “shoe”.

What is a Business Plan?

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

There is a Chinese saying – 一年之计在于春, 一日之计在于晨. This simply means that the planning for the year begins in Spring and planning for the day starts in the morning. It is not surprising that big companies, enterprises, and governmental agencies focus a lot of their work plan discussion in Jan of each year. Everyone wants to plan properly at the start of the year. Everyone wants to start on the right footing.

The Coffee Machine

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

November has been a very busy month for us. More trials, more enquiries and more collaborations. Certainly exciting times for us. Firstly, the very reason for the existence of our product has appeared after a long wait. Though the wait was long, it was worth it. The wait allowed us to see things with our eyes through customers trials. We get to make adjustments to our features and make our selling proposition even stronger than before. Today, our product is a killer. Our product is much stronger, much easier to use and much more feature rich than a year ago. Hence, the wait has been good.

Customer Trials

Mr. Chong Chee Wah
Founder & CEO

Dear Readers,

This month has been an interesting month. We were involved in various customers’ trials. Customers Trials are an important part of any businesses. In fact, such trials are key to unlock the business potential. Some businesses may not have realised this important fact. Some start-ups tend to spend the majority of their time and resources on product development. Of course, product development is important for start-up. Without product, there will be no sales. But the key question would always be – is the product that is being developed, that will attract customers and hence sales? Easy to answer? Actually, not really.
